NMBL Strategies Nonprofit Support Contest
At NMBL Strategies we know these last couple months have been extremely difficult on nonprofits across the country. As we dug in to think of how we can give back and support nonprofits in our community we thought the best way to do it would be to allow the public to tell us whom we should support. So today we announce a contest where three nonprofits will receive outsourced leadership services from our Managing Director of Nonprofit Services, Dion Brown. These services will be completely free of charge with one common goal of helping these nonprofits get back up to speed.
Below is some information on our contest:
How to Nominate Your Nonprofit
It’s simple really, just do these three things:
On Linkedin, Twitter, Facebook or Instagram tell us why we should support your nonprofit.
Tag @NMBLStrategies in your post.
Like @NMBLStrategies on the platform, you posted it (and feel free to like it across all of our platforms).
Multiple nominations will be factored into the finalist selection process, so encourage your staff and friends to support your organization.
Timeline
From May 5th to May 10th post why we should support our favorite nonprofit on Linkedin, Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook. Make sure you tag @NMBLStrategies in your post AND like the NMBL Strategies page for the platform you post to.
May 11th - Dion, Eric, and Kathryn will each pick a nonprofit that has been nominated and we’ll tell you why we chose it.
May 12th to May 17th go to our Twitter page (@nmblstrategies) and vote for who you think should win this coveted prize.
Prizes
We are a company that brings our leadership in to help nonprofits who have lost an executive and need an interim leader or need the experience to lead a project or simply can’t afford an experienced leader full time. Dion will help you identify your needs and priorities to keep your organization nimble and moving forward. With that said, we’re going to bring Dion Brown into the three finalists to assist them in their mission.
1st Prize - 1 day per week for 3 months (100 hours) of Dion Brown’s services free of charge ($25,000 value)
2nd Prize - 1 day per week for 1 month (40 hours) of Dion Brown’s services free of charge ($10,000 value)
3rd Prize - 2 days (16 hours) of Dion Brown’s services free of charge ($4,000 value)
In addition to Dion’s time, we’re going to share weekly updates of how he’s supporting your mission across our social media and website for thousands of people to learn about your mission and needs.
If you are outside of the St. Louis region we can work out a remote support system. St. Louis nonprofits can choose between onsite, remote, or a mixture of both.
What Dion Brings to Your Organization
Dion Brown is an accomplished nonprofit leader. With a proven track record of defining visions, leading teams through strategic planning, conducting analysis of operations, and building budgets that work. He prides himself on building teams and producing programming that will engage the community. He works with board members and staff, to adopt culturally responsive strategies and navigate challenging situations.
In February 2018, Brown became the President and Chief Operating Officer of the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center. In the first three months, Brown analyzed and completed the fiscal year operating budget, reducing annual expenses by $1M. As the spokesperson for the institution Dion engaged the community, current donors, and new donors resulting in higher visibility for the organization. These efforts led to contributions of over $1M in new donations. Dion built strong collaborative partnerships with several organizations including the YWCA, Jewish Federation, African American Chamber, Cincinnati Police Department, and the LGBTQ community among others. These relationships helped to secure over $1M in new funding.
Brown was the Founding Executive Director of the National Blues Museum. He helped the start-up grow and flourish, gaining recognition from CNN, National Geographic, and the New York Post as a “must-see” museum. Prior to the National Blues Museum, Dion’s previous role was as Executive Director of the B.B. King Museum and Delta Interpretive Center in Indianola, Mississippi. While museum programming, tours, and attendance greatly expanded under Brown’s leadership, he simultaneously raised funds, balanced the organization’s budget, and positioned the organization as a viable business and a strong community resource and champion. In 2013 he was recognized by the Delta Business Journal as one of its “Top Minority Business Leaders.” Prior to his leadership at the BB King Museum, Brown served as the Chief Operating Officer for Exploration Place in Wichita, Kansas. He directed a staff of more than 70 people and managed the day-to-day operations of the museum and its $5 million budget.
Brown holds a certificate of fundraising from the IUPUI School of Philanthropy, a Bachelor’s of Science in Human Resources, and a Master’s of Science in Leadership from Southwestern College. He is also retired from the United States Air Force after 21 years of service.
